About the course
Championship parkland golf among bushland and kangaroos, with Brindabella views
Federal Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 public parkland course located in Garran, Australia, established in 1933 and measuring 6,304 metres. The layout features 52 mapped bunkers across notable challenges, including the dogleg-left 7th with water in play, the tough doglegging par-4 9th around a large eucalypt, and the downhill 10th guarded by bunkers on both sides of the green entrance. Facilities include a driving range, pro shop, restaurant and dining, clubhouse, club hire, coaching and parking.
Set in a bushland valley with sweeping views toward the Brindabella Ranges, Federal has a reputation as one of Canberra's most enjoyable inland rounds. Players consistently praise the course's excellent conditioning, with fast greens and well-kept fairways drawing particular mention. Many reviewers highlight the abundant native wildlife — kangaroos grazing on the fairways and birdlife throughout — as a memorable part of the experience. The friendly staff, quality coaching, and clubhouse food and bar also earn warm recommendations. The variety across the holes, combined with the natural scenery, leaves visitors keen to return.

A gentle opening hole, slightly downhill from the tee with a bunker on the left of the fairway. Long hitters may clear the bunker but watch out for the pond on the left-hand side.
