Golfing in City of Mount Gambier
Mount Gambier's golf is played in the Limestone Coast's volcanic country of caves, sinkholes and crater lakes, and both courses are public 18-hole layouts. The Mount Gambier Golf Club at Worrolong was established in 1909, and brothers Brian and Murray Crafter extended its original nine holes to 18 in the 1980s. Set on rolling former sand hills, it is well presented, with elevated tees and wide views, generous couch fairways, doglegs and large, contoured greens, so every hole asks something different. Blue Lake Golf Club at Moorak, dating from 1980, is a par-70 parkland with a good mix of easier and more demanding holes, well-kept fairways and a relaxed feel, and it adds a driving range and mini golf for practice or a family outing.
