Golfing in City of Greater Geraldton
Both of Greater Geraldton's courses are public 18-hole layouts with long histories, serving the Mid West port city and its surrounds. Geraldton Golf Club was formed in 1926 and played at Majors Hill and inside the racecourse and showgrounds at Utakarra before settling at its present home in Wonthella, where it now offers a par-71 country round with a welcoming, sociable feel for members and visitors passing through. Spalding Park began life in 1937 as the Champion Bay Golf Club and took its current name in 1964. Its par-72 layout of about 5,900 metres is known for tight, tree-lined fairways and saltine greens beneath the Moresby Ranges, and the club runs the annual Spalding Park Open.
