Golfing in Shire of Manjimup
Karri and tingle forest covers much of this corner of the lower South West, and all three of its public 18-holers play through timber country. Manjimup Country Club at Dingup is a tight, undulating layout carved from jarrah and marri, with reticulated fairways and small grass greens that volunteers keep in excellent condition. Walpole Country Club, established in 1988, plays on 18 synthetic greens among the karri, with inlet and river views, kikuyu fairways and kangaroos; its front nine is the hillier, tougher half, all sloping fairways and water. Pemberton Golf Club dates from 1959 and offers quirky country golf with fine views and warm hospitality, a good reason to linger in the forest between bushwalks.
