Directly across the Swan River from the CBD, South Perth spans the full range of golf. Royal Perth is Western Australia's oldest golf club: founded in 1895 on Burswood Island, it moved to Belmont before settling in South Perth, received its Royal charter in 1937, and remains a private members' club, a refined course on the riverbank. Collier Park in Karawara is the public face of local golf, 27 holes of parkland with tall, tree-lined holes, manicured fairways and fast greens. It is approachable for beginners yet holds plenty for seasoned players, and with a driving range, coaching and a busy clubhouse it has become a genuine community hub for golfers and non-golfers alike.
