Watson-Marsh parkland layout amid Port Stephens wetlands and wildlife
Horizons Golf Course is a private 18-hole, par-72 parkland course at Salamander Bay, New South Wales, established in 1992 and designed by Graham Marsh and Ross Watson. The layout features around 80 mapped bunkers along with lakes and waterways winding through the course. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant/dining, clubhouse, cart and club hire, coaching and parking.
Set amid the wetlands and bushland of Port Stephens, Horizons enjoys a reputation as one of the region's most scenic rounds, with kangaroos and native birdlife adding to the parkland setting. Players consistently praise the quality of the greens and the strategic, accuracy-demanding layout, where dog-legs, lakes and well-placed bunkers reward thoughtful shot-making. Many reviewers highlight the welcoming clubhouse and dining, with the food, function spaces and friendly bar and bistro staff drawing particular acclaim. Conditioning is generally well regarded, though some visitors have noted variability in fairway quality, and a few have found the dress code strictly enforced. Overall the impression is of a challenging, well-presented course that keen golfers are eager to return to.
