About the course
Parkland golf among mature gums in the Upper Hunter Valley
Scone Golf Club is a public parkland course in Scone, NSW, in the Upper Hunter Valley. Opened in May 2019, it is a 9-hole layout played as 18 holes using alternate tees for the back nine, with a par of 73. The course was redesigned in connection with the Scone Bypass road construction, sited at White Park within the town limits with views over the surrounding hills, and was designed to retain mature gums while thousands of new trees were planted. It is maintained by the Upper Hunter Shire Council with volunteer assistance, and facilities include a putting green, restaurant/dining, cart hire, club hire and parking.
Visitors tend to describe Scone as a relaxed, welcoming small-town club with a genuinely friendly feel for both members and passing players. The surrounding hill views, mature gums and resident birdlife give rounds an easygoing, scenic quality, even when the golf isn't going to plan. The on-site dining draws consistent praise, with reviewers singling out generous, well-priced meals, tasty breakfasts and a cosy fireplace in winter alongside a large outdoor seating area. Many travellers also appreciate the stopover convenience, including the camping option, making it as much a sociable hub as a golf course. Overall the reputation is of a friendly, good-value spot that's worth the visit for the food and atmosphere as well as the golf.
