About the course
Storied parkland gem beneath the blue gums on Sydney's north shore
Pymble Golf Club is a private 18-hole, par-73 parkland course measuring 5,941 metres in Pymble, on Sydney's north shore in New South Wales, Australia. Originally designed by Dan Soutar and Carnegie Clark and established in 1926, the course was redesigned by Eric Apperly in 1949 and underwent a major renovation by James Wilcher completed in 2024. The layout features tall blue gums lining the fairways, picturesque gardens and 68 mapped bunkers, with the par-4 16th and short par-3 11th among its notable holes. Facilities include a driving range, pro shop, restaurant and dining, cart hire and parking.
Players consistently describe Pymble as one of the most beautiful and complete parkland courses in Australia, with its garden-style setting and avenues of blue gums earning widespread admiration. Reviewers frequently praise the immaculate conditioning, singling out the fairways as among the best they have played, while noting that the greens can run on the slower side. The variety across the holes draws repeated comment, from the strong, demanding par 4s to the visually striking short par-3 11th and the long-celebrated 16th. Many highlight that accurate tee shots are rewarded here, with several fairways sloping to one side to add interest. As a private club it is regarded as a hard-to-access but worthwhile experience, with visitors counting themselves fortunate to be hosted by its welcoming members.
