About the course
Tropical 9-hole parkland with contrasting fronts, water and woodlands
Palmerston Golf Course is a 9-hole, par-36 public parkland course measuring 3,117 metres in Durack, Australia. Designed by Glenn Campbell, it was originally established in 1995 and later redesigned in 2005 to add the Durack-side nine. The layout features around 20 mapped bunkers, with longer fairways and water in play on the front holes and a well-wooded, accuracy-demanding back stretch, the two nines straddling University Avenue. On-site facilities include a driving range, pro shop, restaurant/dining, cart hire, club hire and parking.
Set in tropical surrounds, this course is widely regarded as enjoyable and approachable for players of all standards, with a stronger, water-laced front nine giving way to a tighter, tree-framed back nine. Visitors frequently highlight the venue's clean, well-kept grounds and welcoming atmosphere, noting it as a particularly good fit for families and groups. The clubhouse and bistro draw plenty of foot traffic, and reviewers consistently praise the friendly, accommodating staff, though impressions of the food are more mixed and the dining room can get busy and lively at peak times. Overall, the reputation is that of a relaxed, all-round day out where the contrasting nines and social facilities are the standout draws.
