About the course
Tight tropical parkland on the Capricorn Coast, with kangaroos for company
Yeppoon Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 parkland course at Barmaryee on Queensland's Capricorn Coast, just above the Tropic of Capricorn at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef. Measuring 5,417 metres, it is not especially long but plays relatively tight, with out of bounds threatening on eight holes and water hazards in play on several others. This public course is home to mobs of grey kangaroos and a variety of native flora and fauna. Facilities include a pro shop, restaurant/dining, cart hire and parking.
This is a course that earns its reputation as a picturesque country layout where the natural setting is a genuine drawcard, with resident kangaroos and native bushland adding to the relaxed coastal atmosphere. Visitors regularly comment on its strong conditioning, praising consistent fairways, well-prepared tee boxes and smooth, true-running greens that putt nicely even on the two-tier surfaces. Though described as still playable for higher handicappers, the tight corridors, out-of-bounds threats and water hazards mean it rewards thoughtful, controlled golf rather than length. The clubhouse dining draws a laid-back, easygoing crowd, and the course can get busy, so afternoons are often the better bet for a casual round. Overall it leaves players keen to return, with several reviewers noting it is in better shape than ever.
