About the course
Scenic hilly parkland golf in the picturesque Adelaide Hills
Highercombe Public Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 70 parkland course in Paracombe, in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia, established in 1967. The daily-fee course runs through tree-lined fairways featuring poplars, pines, eucalypts and other Australian native flora, with several dams that provide irrigation water and support a variety of bird life. Five mapped bunkers feature across the layout. Facilities include a pro shop, restaurant/dining, cart hire, club hire and coaching.
Open to the public seven days a week, Highercombe enjoys a reputation as a friendly, welcoming club where players appreciate the relaxed, play-at-your-own-pace atmosphere and the helpfulness of the staff. Reviewers consistently describe it as a versatile and genuinely challenging layout, with hilly terrain and undulating fairways that keep the round interesting and reward accurate tee shots. The greens in particular draw praise, while the natural setting of native trees and dams adds to its scenic appeal. Some visitors note that fairway conditioning can suffer during dry spells, though regulars suggest the course typically presents well. Overall, it's regarded as a fun and rewarding hill-country experience that's hard to get bored of.
