About the course
Historic Seaton links near the coast, with a celebrated 3rd hole
Royal Adelaide Golf Course is a private, 18-hole links course at Seaton in Adelaide's western suburbs, South Australia, established in 1892 and operated by The Royal Adelaide Golf Club Incorporated. The layout has been shaped over time by designers Dan Soutar, Alister MacKenzie and, more recently, Brian Slawnik/Tom Doak of Renaissance Golf, and features 102 mapped bunkers. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant and dining, coaching, plus cart and club hire. The course can be played from multiple tees, with championship configurations stretching beyond 6,500 metres.
Affectionately known to members simply as "Seaton", Royal Adelaide enjoys a reputation as one of Australia's premier links and is held in high regard by visitors lucky enough to secure a round. Players consistently praise the traditional links character, the firm, beautifully manicured surfaces and the variety created by multiple playing lines that reward all standards. The par-3 third hole is a frequent favourite, singled out as a memorable highlight, while the heritage clubhouse and pro shop draw warm comments for their understated class and welcoming, attentive staff. Many reviewers describe a distinctly premium feel built from countless small touches, leaving a lasting impression of a course rich in history and tradition. Access is limited and membership famously sought-after, which only adds to the sense of occasion for those who play.
