About the course
Riverland parkland gem, 18 lush holes among towering pines
Loxton Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 public parkland course located 8km from Loxton in South Australia's Riverland, established in 1951 with designs by Vern Morcom (1963) and Brian Crafter (1976). The irrigated fairways are lined with mature Aleppo Pine, gums and other shade trees, with sand bunkers on 10 holes and grassy mounds around most surrounds. Facilities include a driving range, pro shop, restaurant/dining, cart hire and coaching, with established practising facilities near the clubhouse. The club is noted as a ranked country and regional course in South Australia.
Loxton enjoys a strong reputation as one of the Riverland's standout courses, with visitors frequently rating it among the best they play in the region. Players consistently praise the conditioning, highlighting good, true-rolling greens that hold an approach and unusually level tees, all maintained to a high standard by a small but dedicated team of staff and volunteers. The variety across the 18 holes and the relaxed, social, friendly atmosphere earn regular mention, as does the convenience of the attached caravan park for travelling golfers. The course sits a short drive out of town, so visitors should plan accordingly, but the overall impression is of a welcoming country club well worth a stop.
