About the course
Raw links carved into King Island's dunes, framed by the Southern Ocean
Ocean Dunes Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 links course on King Island, Tasmania, measuring 6,376 metres. Designed by Graeme Grant and established in 2016, it is carved into rolling dunes along roughly 2km of coastline, with undulating fescue fairways, bentgrass greens and 84 mapped bunkers. Notable holes include the 1st (Dunluce), 2nd (Outcrop), 10th (Bay) and 18th (Wallaby). The daily-fee course offers a pro shop, cart hire and club hire.
Exposed to the prevailing influence of the Southern Ocean, Ocean Dunes has built a reputation as a raw, remote and genuinely challenging links experience. Visitors consistently rave about the spectacular coastal scenery, with sweeping ocean views and natural dunescapes framing nearly every hole. The course is widely regarded as a bucket-list round, and reviewers reserve particular praise for the warm, attentive welcome and service from the team running the club. The undulating fairways and quick greens reward thoughtful shot-making, though playing conditions can vary with the seasons and the elements. For many, it stands out as one of the most memorable and visually striking layouts they've encountered.
