About the course
Tasmania's premier links, sandy bushland by Seven Mile Beach
Royal Hobart Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-69 private parkland course measuring 5,824 metres at Seven Mile Beach, Tasmania, roughly twenty minutes from Hobart and five minutes from Hobart airport. Designed by Vern Morcom and established in 1916, the layout features around 80 mapped bunkers and is the southernmost Royal course in the world. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant and dining, coaching, cart and club hire, and parking.
Widely regarded as Tasmania's premier members club, Royal Hobart has a reputation for being presented in impeccable condition throughout the year. Visiting golfers consistently single out the greens as among the best they have played in the state — manicured, true and notably quick — paired with generous, well-kept fairways and a layout offering plenty of variety across its holes. The seaside setting and a spacious clubhouse with bar and dining draw warm praise, and many describe the members and pro-shop team as especially friendly and welcoming to interstate visitors. Players often note the course is both fun and challenging, with the only recurring grumbles concerning wet-weather drainage and aspects of club management. Overall, it leaves most golfers eager to return next time they're in Tasmania.
