About the course
Serene parkland golf among towering red gums, wrapped around a country racetrack
Alexandra Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-71 parkland course measuring 5,247 metres in Alexandra, in Victoria's High Country. Uniquely laid out on a public reserve in and around the Alexandra Racing Club racetrack, its front nine runs largely outside the track while the back nine sits mostly inside, with some fairways crossing over. The course has no sand bunkers, but water hazards and several large dams come into play on a number of holes, and the dams help keep the grass greens, surrounds and tee boxes in good condition year-round. This daily-fee club offers a driving range, pro shop, restaurant/dining, plus cart and club hire, with a historic clubhouse once used by Utah Constructions during the raising of the dam wall.
Visitors consistently describe Alexandra as a classic country course with a peaceful, relaxed feel, set amongst gently undulating fairways and beautiful old red gums. The grass greens earn regular praise for being well maintained, and the absence of bunkers combined with gentle terrain makes for an enjoyable, walkable round. Reviewers frequently highlight the friendly, welcoming club members, adding to its easygoing community atmosphere. The clubhouse also draws positive comment as a venue for dinners and gatherings, handled with a professional touch. Overall its reputation is that of a serene, well-kept High Country gem that's as social as it is scenic.
