About the course
Public parkland golf with lakes and bunkers in Melbourne's south-east
Rowville Lakes Public Golf Course is a public parkland course in Rowville, in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs, Victoria. It plays to a par of 77 over a length of 5,299 metres, with 25 mapped bunkers and lakes coming into play. Designed by Eric Horne and Green Masters and established in 1978, the course is complemented by a driving range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant/dining, coaching, cart hire and parking.
Set among parkland fairways and serene lakes, Rowville Lakes has a reputation as an accessible, good-value layout suited to golfers of all levels. Players frequently describe a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, with staff often singled out as welcoming and accommodating, and the course is busy enough on weekends that visitors are encouraged to keep the pace up. Reviews speak warmly of plenty of shade and generally playable conditions, and the greens earn particular praise when in good form. That said, impressions of conditioning can vary: dry spells have left fairways parched at times, while wet periods have drawn comment about drainage and waterlogged bunkers. Overall the venue is regarded as an enjoyable, easygoing round backed by handy practice and dining facilities.
