About the course
Classic Melbourne Sandbelt golf by Alex Russell, world-class par 3s and bunkering
Yarra Yarra Golf Club is a private sandbelt course at Bentleigh East, Victoria, Australia, established in 1898. Designed by Alex Russell, the course plays to a par of 77 over 5,803 metres with around 120 mapped bunkers across a layout that remains substantially the same as the original. On-site facilities include a driving range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant and dining, coaching, cart and club hire, and parking. It is recognised as one of eight Melbourne Sandbelt courses with a world-wide reputation.
As one of the celebrated Melbourne Sandbelt clubs, Yarra Yarra enjoys a strong reputation among visiting and local golfers alike. Players consistently praise the course's flawless, quick greens, its world-class par 3s, and the demanding green complexes ringed by bunkers that run firm and low on sand, making for a genuine test. The relatively flat property and well-routed layout draw repeated compliments, as do the immaculate conditioning and the standout green-to-tee flow. Off the course, reviewers frequently highlight the warm, helpful staff, the well-stocked and competitively priced pro shop, and the quality dining within the heritage Spanish Mission-style clubhouse. The overall impression is of a polished, welcoming club where both the golf and the hospitality leave a lasting impression.
