About the course
Links golf carved into ocean-front dunes south of Perth
The Cut Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 public links course in Dawesville, Western Australia, measuring 6,309 metres and designed by James Wilcher. Set among ocean-front dunes, it features 61 mapped bunkers and several memorable opening holes, including a coastal elevated tee at the 2nd, panoramic ocean views obscured by a sand dune at the 3rd, and a par 3 4th with its green nestled beneath a massive dune. Facilities include a driving range, pro shop, restaurant and dining, cart and club hire, and coaching.
Players consistently praise The Cut for its breathtaking ocean views and clever use of the natural dune topography, with the opening stretch along the coast singled out as a highlight. Its links character shows in the demanding bunkering and thick rough, which many describe as a genuine test that rewards accuracy and shot-making, especially when the sea breeze picks up. The course enjoys a reputation for strong value and an engaging, varied layout, and the wider venue is well regarded for its dining and event hospitality. Conditioning impressions have been more mixed, with some visitors noting tired fairways and greens during drier spells, though most still rate the overall quality highly enough to return. It is a place many regard as a memorable, must-play destination on the WA coast.

A 'line of sight' fairway bunker some 240 meters from the tee should be avoided. Assuming the fairway is reached, a short iron is all that is needed to find the elevated green, but if the wind is blowing, a low running shot might be the better play.
