About the course
Tree-lined parkland challenge with carpet greens and resident kangaroo mobs
Capel Golf Club is an 18-hole, par-72 facility located in the Geographe Wine Region of Western Australia, just south of Bunbury. Originally designed by Murray Dawson in the early 1960s and later upgraded to grass greens, the course features narrow, tree-lined fairways and strategic bunkering. The club offers a floodlit 10-bay undercover driving range, an indoor golf studio with TrackMan technology, and cart hire for visitors.
Visitors frequently describe Capel Golf Club as a hidden gem within the South West, praising its picturesque setting among native Jarrah and Tuart trees. While some reviewers note that the narrow fairways can be challenging, many appreciate the excellent running conditions of the couch grass fairways which aid in ball recovery. The course is often highlighted for its unique wildlife encounters, with large mobs of kangaroos frequently spotted on the grounds. Although maintenance levels have received mixed feedback regarding the greens, the overall atmosphere is characterized by a relaxed, rural charm that appeals to social golfers and groups alike.
