Golfing in City of Canada Bay Council
Inner-west Sydney has little room to spare, yet compact Canada Bay, running from Drummoyne and Five Dock to Concord and Rhodes, fits in three quite distinct courses. Concord Golf Club, established in 1899, is the prestige address: a private members' club on a Dan Soutar layout later reconstructed by Ross Watson, known for immaculate presentation, manicured greens and a heritage feel. The public pair are more relaxed. Massey Park in Concord, one of Sydney's most popular public courses, is a flat, walkable par 68 on the shores of Exile Bay with city skyline views, where strategic bunkering and tree-lined fairways reward accuracy over power. Barnwell Park at Five Dock, a par-61 course whose club dates from the mid-1960s, sits on Hen and Chicken Bay and serves up an easygoing round with a busy social life afterwards.
