Golfing in Georges River Council
In Sydney's St George district golf means public parkland, and Georges River has two par-70 courses built for everyday players. Beverley Park Golf Club, in the suburb that shares its name, is a challenging but accessible 18 with a creek and ponds in play across several holes and well-covered fairways that reward accurate hitting, and it suits walking or carting equally well. Its clubhouse adds a lively social side, complete with a wood-fired pizza oven. Hurstville Golf Course at Mortdale is one of Sydney's newer clubs, established in 2005, a tree-lined 18 of a little under 5,300 metres with a good spread of interesting, challenging holes and well-kept greens. Open to golfers of all levels, it runs gender-neutral competitions for women and men, giving it an inclusive and active club scene.
