Golfing in Cassowary Coast Regional Council

Rainforest and beaches frame golf on the Cassowary Coast, between Cairns and Townsville, where each of the three main towns has its own public nine-hole course. Innisfail Golf Club at Goondi Hill is the oldest, dating from 1928, and its volunteers keep it in impressive shape, with greens that stand out for the region, fairways that cope well with heavy rain and some interesting changes in elevation. Tully Country Club plays to par 73 and comes with creek hazards and crafty bunkers to deal with, though its mountain views and easygoing feel make it more pleasant stroll than stern test. Cardwell Golf Club is laid out through natural bushland at the southern end of the coast, a strategic little course with mountain and sea views that rewards patient play on firm, fast fairways.
