Golfing in Noosa Shire Council
At the northern tip of the Sunshine Coast, Noosa has a compact trio of public courses, each with its own character. Noosa Golf Club at Tewantin goes back to 1937, when nine local businessmen met to form the Tewantin & Noosa Golf Club, and today plays a Scott Murphy-designed parkland 18 that is challenging but enjoyable for all standards, with newer holes that players single out. Noosa Springs, opened in 1999, is the resort option: lush and well presented between Noosa National Park and Lake Weyba, with plenty of water in play and several interesting lines into the greens. Up in the hinterland, Cooroy dates from 1936 and started out as a modest nine-hole layout; now a full 18, it plays out and back through the valleys like St Andrews and rewards thought over power.
