Golfing in Gympie Regional Council
Gold made Gympie, on the Mary River, but its golf is about relaxed country rounds rather than championship tests, and all four courses are open to the public. In town, Gympie Golf Club plays 18 holes to par 70 and is built for golfers of every level, with a friendly club atmosphere and a dining room that looks out over the course. On the Cooloola coast, Tin Can Bay Country Club pairs an open, easygoing 18-hole, par-71 layout with practice facilities, bowling greens and a bistro; players rate its greens, tees and fairways highly, which makes it a natural holiday round. Inland, Kilkivan has a public 18-hole country course with an unhurried, laid-back feel, and Goomeri a nine-holer that visitors remember fondly and that doubles as a popular free camp stop.
