Golfing in Kingborough Council

South of Hobart, Kingborough's two 18-hole courses offer quite different rounds. Kingston Beach Golf Club, a private members' club at Bonnet Hill, plays over a coastal parkland course that dates from 1922, with river, beach and bushland views and Mt Wellington on the horizon. It opens with a dramatic downhill par 3 toward the Derwent, and its fast, true greens are rated among the best in Tasmania; visitors can join its competitions and social play. North West Bay Golf Club, between Kingston and Margate, is open to the public. It began as a nine-hole layout designed by A. Toogood that opened in 1965 and is now a par-72 parkland course whose welcoming front nine gives way to a tighter, sloping back nine that demands more careful shotmaking.
