Golfing in Bass Coast Shire Council
Bass Coast's golf runs from a forested Gippsland members' course to holiday rounds on Phillip Island. Lang Lang Golf Club, founded in 1925, is a members' club that welcomes visitors, with a George Naismith course often nicknamed the 'Augusta of Gippsland'. Its narrow couch fairways, doglegs and fast, tricky greens reward thinking and accuracy over raw length. On Phillip Island, the 18-hole Phillip Island Golf Club at Silverleaves is open to the public, a relaxed par-73 course close to the beach with well-regarded greens and wildlife for company. Red Rocks near Cowes, formerly the Aussie Golf Ranch, has a nine-hole, par-27 layout by Ross Watson a short walk from the beach, ideal for families and beginners. Wonthaggi Golf Club adds a public 18-hole country course with fast greens and resident kangaroos.
