Golfing in Shire of Esperance
Esperance's golf matches its wide-open south-coast setting, about 700 kilometres from Perth: four public 18-hole courses, two near town and two out in the farming districts. Pink Lake Country Club, about five kilometres out, is the standout, a hilly seaside links with grass greens whose front nine opened in 1982 and back nine in 1989. Narrow fairways, blind tee shots and sea breezes reward local knowledge and decent fitness, holes such as 'Windy Pass' live up to their names, and the members keep the greens immaculate. Esperance Golf Club on Dickerson Road is the town's other 18, a par 72 of about 5,900 metres open to visitors. Out on the land, Salmon Gums and the par-73 Condingup keep relaxed country golf going.
