Golfing in Shire of Lake Grace
Out in the state's south-east, Lake Grace is broad farming country with few people and two public 18-hole, par-72 courses. Lake Grace Golf Club plays on sand greens and runs its fixtured season from April to the end of September, a relaxed community course for a quiet country round. Lake King Golf Club has a homegrown story: formed at a public meeting in 1972, laid out by Alan Hewson with help from Vern Hall of Newdegate, opened in 1981 and later extended to eighteen holes. It sits in a remote township that doubles as a stopover between Perth and Esperance, and with a tavern, motel and caravan park nearby it is an easy place to break a long drive with a round.
