Golfing in City of Kalamunda
Up on the Darling Scarp at Perth's eastern edge, Kalamunda's three courses are all open to visitors and each plays differently. Hillview in Maida Vale is the busy public hub, 27 holes arranged as three nine-hole loops with a grassed driving range, accessible for all abilities but demanding off the tee on some tighter lines. Pickering Brook, out in the hills, is a public 18-holer dating from 1960: seasonal bushland golf on sand greens framed by native flora that comes into its own once the rains arrive, with a family-friendly sports club alongside. Hartfield Country Club in Forrestfield is a members' club that welcomes green-fee players; it grew out of the 1970 merger of the Kalamunda and Hillrose golf clubs and plays through foothills bushland.
