Golf in the Shire of Northam

Ninety-odd kilometres from Perth in the Wheatbelt, Northam's three courses are all public 18-hole, par-72 layouts, though each has its own character. El Caballo at Wooroloo is the thinking golfer's round, a parkland course in the Perth Hills where tight fairways, blind tee shots, lakes, rock drains and raised, well-protected greens reward placement over power, and the conditioning regularly surprises visitors. Northam Country Club on Wood Drive dates from 1948 and also offers tennis and squash, an easygoing country club with a warm clubhouse. Wundowie Golf Club is the bush option, basic but genuinely challenging on sand greens, with wide fairways and the quiet of the surrounding national forest for company.
