Howlong Golf Resort

Flat, lush parkland golf along the Murray, rewarding precise positional play

Howlong Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 parkland course in New South Wales, Australia, measuring 5,624 metres and operating on a daily-fee basis. The layout features flat terrain, legend couch fairways and creeping bent grass greens, with 37 mapped bunkers, a range of dogleg holes and water hazards in play. Early holes set the tone, including a tree-lined par 3 at the 2nd and a testing par 4 3rd with fairway and greenside bunkers, while out-of-bounds runs alongside several holes. On-site facilities include a driving range, pro shop, restaurant/dining, cart and club hire, coaching and parking.

Players consistently describe Howlong as a well-presented, fair test that suits all skill levels, with its flat walking terrain and tidy, year-round conditioning earning regular praise. The narrow, irrigated fairways and strategic bunkering reward accuracy and positional thinking rather than raw length, making each tee shot a decision. Many visitors highlight the welcoming atmosphere and the sense of pride taken in the course's upkeep, with first-timers often leaving impressed. As part of a wider resort beside the Murray River, it's frequently noted as an easy place to settle in for a full weekend of play, dining and downtime. Feedback on the on-site dining is more mixed, though the friendly service and relaxed clubhouse vibe come through strongly.
