About the course
Parkland championship golf on the scenic banks of the Murray River
Murray Downs Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 parkland course in New South Wales, set on the Murray River near Swan Hill and measuring 6,168 metres. Designed by Ted Parslow and established in 1991, the layout features 82 mapped bunkers. The daily-fee course is supported by a driving range, pro shop, restaurant/dining and on-site parking.
With a 4.2-star reputation across hundreds of reviews, Murray Downs is widely regarded as one of the standout courses along the Murray River. Golfers consistently praise the conditioning, singling out true-rolling greens and well-presented fairways, and many credit the greenkeeping team for keeping the course in excellent shape year-round. The design is often described as a strategic test, where positional play, fairway bunkering and water hazards (notably on the back nine) reward thoughtful golf and penalise over-ambitious shots. Beyond the round, players appreciate the welcoming country-club atmosphere, complete with practice facilities, a bistro and café, and a relaxed setting that suits visitors and locals alike.
