About the course
Laid-back coastal nine in Arnhem Land, with sea views and warm welcomes
Gove Country Golf Club is a daily-fee parkland course in Nhulunbuy, on the coast of Northeast Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. Established in 1970, it is a 9-hole all-grass course that uses alternate tee positions to make up a Par 72 (ACR 71) layout measuring 6110 metres. The club has hosted many Pro-Am tournaments and stages the 54-hole handicap Gove Gulf Amateur Open, which draws visitors from across the NT and interstate. On-site facilities include a restaurant and licensed bar.
Players consistently describe this remote nine as relaxed and welcoming, with an unhurried vibe that mirrors the town itself. The all-grass layout earns praise for being lush and varied, with the alternate tee positions adding interest over a second loop, though some note the greens can be rough in places. The coastal setting is a recurring highlight, with visitors enjoying sea views, nearby beaches and glorious sunsets. Run largely by volunteers, the club is regarded as a genuine community asset, and its restaurant and balcony are popular for a meal or a drink after a round. The friendly, knowledgeable members and the easygoing atmosphere leave many reviewers keen to return.
