About the course
Tight par-66 parkland test winding along the Brisbane River
Karana Downs Golf Course is a parkland-style, 18-hole par 66 course located in Karana Downs, Queensland, around 30km from the Brisbane CBD, established in 1979. The tight layout features fairways that meander around water hazards, bunkers and woodland, with holes 5 and 6 running alongside the Brisbane River. Facilities include a pro shop, restaurant/dining, clubhouse, cart hire, coaching and parking, and the course operates on a daily-fee basis.
Reputed as one of the harder courses in the region to master, this undulating layout rewards accuracy over power, with its tight fairways and water hazards keeping players honest. Visitors consistently single out the river views along holes 5 and 6 as a genuine highlight, and many enjoy the challenge it poses to less experienced golfers. The clubhouse, staff and warm welcome earn frequent praise, and off-peak rates are often mentioned as good value. Impressions of conditioning, however, are more mixed: while the fairways and facilities draw compliments, some players have reported the greens and bunkers as inconsistent. Overall it leaves the impression of a characterful, testing parkland round best enjoyed for its setting and layout.
