About the course
Neil Crafter links among the gorse and kangaroos on the Fleurieu Peninsula
Fleurieu Golf Course is a public 18-hole links-style course at Mount Compass on South Australia's Fleurieu Peninsula, an easy 50-minute drive from the Adelaide CBD and 20 minutes from Victor Harbor. Designed by Neil Crafter, the par layout runs over gently undulating terrain peppered with gorse, 84 tight bunkers and integrated water features, and includes four par 3s, eleven par 4s and three par 5s. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant and bar, cart and club hire, and coaching.
Players consistently praise the course for its spectacular conditioning, with large, fast and true sloping greens and high-quality fairways earning regular admiration. The links character rewards accuracy: fairways are described as generous but the rough is genuinely penal, encouraging golfers to bring their best game. Many reviewers highlight the scenic, peaceful setting, with contours, elevation changes and resident kangaroos and birdlife adding to the appeal of the walk. Bunkering is a recurring talking point and impresses most, though a few note the odd bunker could use some upkeep. The on-site restaurant and bar round out the experience, with visitors enjoying a meal or drink after their round.
