About the course
Three links courses carved from Tasmania's wild coastal dunes
Barnbougle Lost Farm is part of a public links golf resort in Bridport, on the north-east coast of Tasmania, Australia, established in 2004. The resort comprises three courses carved from the natural coastal dunes: The Dunes (designed by Tom Doak and Mike Clayton), Lost Farm (designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw), and the Bougle Run short course (designed by Bill Coore). Combined, the layout offers 34 holes playing to a par of 136 over 8,397 metres, with 129 mapped bunkers; notable holes include the 7th, 14th and the alternate 13A and 18A on Lost Farm. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant and dining, cart and club hire, and coaching.
Designed to emulate the traditional links of Scotland and Ireland, the courses wind through dramatic coastal dunes that lend the experience a wild, natural character. Visitors consistently rate the setting and hospitality highly, with frequent praise for warm, attentive staff, memorable meals and a relaxed clubhouse atmosphere ideal for a drink and a feed after a round. Many reviewers describe the playing surfaces as being in excellent, well-conditioned shape, and rate Lost Farm as a slightly more forgiving companion to its sister course. The overall reputation is that of a destination resort worth travelling for, where standout golf is matched by the quality of the food and stay. A handful of guests have noted that some accommodation and areas could benefit from a refresh, but the prevailing sentiment is overwhelmingly enthusiastic.
