About the course
Historic parkland golf and a well-loved bistro in the Gippsland foothills
Warragul Country Club is a public parkland course located in Lillico, Victoria, Australia, established in 1909. The layout was shaped by a series of designers including Frank Biggs, Les Symons, Eric Donaldson, Albert Morrison, Ivor Ashby, Joe Marino, George Browne and Bob O'Connell, with a redesign by Vern Morcom in 1961-1962. The course plays to a par 70 over 5,647m for men and a par 72 over 5,070m for ladies, set amid native plants and wildlife in the foothills of the Baw Baw Ranges. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, pro shop, restaurant/dining, cart hire, club hire and parking.
With more than a century of golf behind it, the club has a relaxed, welcoming feel and a natural setting that players appreciate for its abundant native plants and wildlife. Visitors regularly highlight the on-site dining as a standout, with friendly, efficient staff and generous, well-priced meals earning particular praise — the bistro and bar make it a popular spot for a social or corporate function as much as a round of golf. The overall impression is of a friendly country club where the food and hospitality are a real drawcard, though service can occasionally be uneven when the kitchen is busy. Reflected in a solid aggregate rating, the experience tends to leave players keen to return, both for the parkland layout and the clubhouse afterwards.
