About the course
Reimagined parkland public course, all welcome seven days a week
Freeway Public Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-58 parkland course in Balwyn North, Victoria, measuring 4,645 metres. The course was redesigned and rerouted under the guidance of Pacific Coast Design, and features 17 mapped bunkers throughout. It is fully public access seven days a week, with facilities including a driving range, pro shop, restaurant/dining, coaching, plus cart and club hire.
Following its redesign, the course has earned a generally positive reputation, with players regularly praising the well-manicured, pristine playing surfaces and noting that the drainage has improved markedly compared with earlier years. Many describe it as a peaceful, mostly flat layout with easy walking and good on-course etiquette, where play tends to move along despite occasional weekend waits at the first tee. Reviewers appreciate the well-kept amenities, including surprisingly clean on-course facilities. That said, some feel the narrow, bush-lined fairways and water hazards make it more challenging than its beginner-friendly billing suggests, and a few note background noise from nearby works. Overall the impression is of a creatively reworked parkland course that suits a broad range of abilities.
