Golfing in Bega Valley Shire Council
Bega Valley's Sapphire Coast, running from Bermagui down to Eden and the Victorian border, is all public golf, and the coastline shapes most of it. Tura Beach Country Club leads the way: a Peter Thomson and Mike Wolveridge design that opened in 1982 as Australia's first purpose-built golf and housing community, it weaves toward the beach and back through eucalypt forest, with elevated tees and greens opening onto Pacific views and a long run in the Top 100 Public Courses. Pambula Merimbula's 27 holes wind through bushland beside Merimbula Lake, with wide fairways, quick greens and kangaroos for company. Eden's 18 holes are a John Spencer design, Bermagui is a par-72 coastal 18 with a demanding opening stretch, Bega plays hilly among towering gums, and Tathra Beach offers an easy-walking 13-hole social round.
