Golfing in East Gippsland Shire Council
From the Gippsland Lakes through the Snowy River country to Mallacoota near the New South Wales border, East Gippsland mixes lakeside parkland, high-country nines and coastal holiday golf, and all six courses take public players. Bairnsdale Golf Club at Eagle Point is the pick, a highly regarded country parkland layout whose rolling back nine looks out over the lakes, with firm, fast greens in summer. Lakes Entrance is a full 18 of natural undulations, water and wind, while South Pines at Lindenow South is a volunteer-run 18 that rewards careful shot-making around tight doglegs. Orbost (1906) is a long-standing country club that plays longer than it looks, Omeo (1908) is a friendly nine-holer up in the high country, and Mallacoota has been building a new Michael Henderson layout since 2023, with kangaroos and wallabies for company.
