Golfing in Dubbo Regional Council
Out on the central western plains, Dubbo's golf comes in two public flavours. Dubbo Golf Club is the inland oasis: 27 holes that can be played in three different 18-hole configurations, a tree-lined parkland setting threaded by eleven waterways, with native trees and flora all around and kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas often for company. At around 6,000 metres for a par-71 round it is a proper test, and the outlook from the clubhouse over the course is part of the appeal. Wellington Golf Club, in the council's second town, is an 18-hole, par-72 country course a short drive from the centre, with a caravan park next door. Its fairways and greens hold up impressively given the dry country around it, and the relaxed, away-from-it-all feel suits a quiet round while passing through.
