Golfing in Cabonne Council
Cabonne wraps around the City of Orange in the Central West, and its golf is simple, sociable country fare on two public courses. Molong Golf Club, in the council's home town, is a short, tree-lined 18-hole layout playing to par 68, kept in tidy order in a quiet setting a little out of town. Canowindra Golf Club, in the historic village between Orange and Cowra that bills itself as the Balloon Capital of Australia, is a family-friendly club with green, well-kept fairways even on crisp mornings and a relaxed small-town pace. Neither sets out to be a championship test. Both are about an unhurried round among friendly locals, and Canowindra's clubhouse kitchen in particular has earned a reputation well beyond town for its food after golf.
