Golfing in Temora Shire Council
Temora Shire, in the north-east of the Riverina, keeps its golf simple and sociable, with both of its courses open to the public. Temora Golf Club bills itself as the club with a view, and its 18-hole, par-71 parkland is flat and easy to walk, with grass greens that hold up well, though the fairways can run dry in drought years. A relaxed clubhouse with good meals and a cold beer makes it a natural stop for anyone passing through the Friendly Town. Ariah Park Golf Club offers something more old-fashioned: a nine-hole sand-scrape course just north of the Burley Griffin Way, sitting about 315 metres above sea level. It suits travellers after an unpretentious, genuinely rural round and a taste of how country golf has long been played out here.
