Golfing in Wollongong City Council
Golf in Wollongong runs between the ocean and the escarpment on Dharawal country, and all four of its courses are open to the public. Wollongong Golf Club leads the way, playing a links-style layout along the coast since 1897, with wide, largely treeless fairways that feel gentle on a still day and very different once the wind gets up. Russell Vale sits up on the escarpment with views to the ocean, a par-59 course built mostly from short holes that suits newer players and quick social rounds. For a full parkland test, Port Kembla at Primbee is an easy-walking 18 known for the quality of its greens, while Kembla Grange, known locally as The Grange, plays to par 75 and adds a turfed driving range and a busy events side.
