Golfing in City of Moreton Bay
Stretching from the Hills District and the Redcliffe Peninsula north to Caboolture, Woodford and Bribie Island, Moreton Bay is entirely public golf, and its seven courses cover a surprising range. Bribie Island provides the highlights. Pacific Harbour is a Ross Watson 'island links' from 2006 with water in play on almost every hole and exposed par 3s that bite when the wind gets up, while Bribie Island Golf Club at Woorim is a flat, tree-lined, sandbelt-style Arch McArthur course from 1969. Redcliffe at Clontarf, laid out by Stan Francis in 1935, is the oldest, a well-presented parkland with testing bunkers. Inland, Pine Rivers (1975) is hilly with fast greens, Wantima (1969) leans on water and varied holes, Caboolture rewards accuracy over power, and Woodford serves up risk-and-reward country golf.
