Golfing in City of Adelaide
Adelaide's golf is played in the Park Lands that wrap around the CBD and North Adelaide, the green belt that makes it the only Australian city completely enclosed by parkland. The North Adelaide Golf Club formed in the 1890s and began playing competitions in the north Park Lands, and the links grew to two 18-hole courses from 1950. Today the North Adelaide Golf Course is public, a tree-lined parkland 18 with a city backdrop and well-kept greens, ideal for an accessible round close to town. Alongside it sits the Par 3 course, opened by Lord Mayor L.M. Hargreaves in 1960, with holes of 56 to 140 metres a short walk from the CBD along the River Torrens. It suits beginners, families and casual groups, and its forgiving layout keeps the mood easygoing.
