Golfing in City of Charles Sturt
Adelaide's western suburbs, between the Park Lands and 12 kilometres of sandy beaches, hold golf that is exceptional for an area of their size. Royal Adelaide, founded at Glenelg in 1892, moved to the sandy dunes of Seaton in 1904 and is consistently ranked South Australia's best course and among Australia's top ten; Dr Alister MacKenzie is among its designers. A private members' club, it is a traditional links of firm, beautifully manicured surfaces. The Grange, a private club from 1927, offers two championship courses, an East by Greg Norman's firm and a West by Mike Clayton's, both well regarded for design and presentation. West Lakes is the public option, a heavily bunkered sandbelt-style 18 with true-rolling greens that asks questions of every part of your game.
