About the course
Parkland golf on the Ovens River valley floor, framed by the Victorian Alps
Bright Golf Course is a parkland course in Bright, Victoria, in the state's High Country, set on the valley floor beside the Ovens River. Designed by Tony Cashmore and established in 1989, the layout features native couch grass fairways, bent grass greens, water features and well-positioned bunkering, with the river coming into play on several holes. It operates on a daily-fee basis and offers a pro shop, restaurant/dining, cart hire and coaching.
With the Alps rising in every direction and the Ovens River bordering the fairways, the course has a reputation for one of the more scenic settings in regional Victoria, and players consistently single out the alpine backdrop and the autumn colour. The greens draw particular praise, with visitors describing them as immaculate, true-rolling and a highlight of the round. Reviewers also note a layout that is enjoyable and fun without being punishing, suiting golfers of all abilities, from first-timers to those chasing a sharper handicap. The friendly staff and ready availability of carts and pull buggies come up often, as does the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. It's frequently described as a course people happily return to.
