Golfing in Kyogle Council
Up in the Northern Rivers towards the Queensland border, Kyogle's golf is small-town country golf: three public clubs where the welcome counts as much as the scorecard. Kyogle Golf Club, on the Summerland Way at New Park, is a fun and creative 18 that makes clever use of a compact space, with well-kept greens and tidy work around the trees. Woodenbong & District plays its 18 holes off nine greens with separate tees, laid into rolling hills, with closely mown, wide fairways that forgive a loose drive and greens that ask far more of the putter. Bonalbo Golf Course is a relaxed nine-holer winding around the banks of Peacock Creek, saving its big moment for the 9th, where the tee shot carries roughly 100 metres over water. Each suits an unhurried round in the border country.
